No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would prohibit the operation of certain commercial motor vehicles in a residential subdivision on a highway or street maintained by a county if the proper signs are posted. Exceptions would be made for commercial vehicles owned or leased by residents who own property or commercial establishments located in the subdivision and vehicles transporting persons or property for work being done in the subdivision.

Residents of the subdivision may petition the commissioners court to post signs prohibiting commercial motor vehicles in the subdivision. The commissioners court may request that the residents pay for the signs.

The bill would take effect on September 1, 2009.
