LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 19, 2009

TO:
Honorable John Whitmire, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3438 by Hodge (Relating to authorizing the Texas Board of Criminal Justice to convey certain real property to the City of Dallas in exchange for comparable property.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Texas Board of Criminal Justice to authorize the transfer of specific property to the City of Dallas in exchange for comparable property to the Department of Criminal Justice. The bill would direct the General Land Office to negotiate and close a transaction on behalf of the Texas Board of Criminal Justice. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice has determined that costs associated with implementing the bill would not be significant.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
