LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 17, 2009

TO:
Honorable Tommy Merritt, Chair, House Committee on Public Safety

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3499 by Naishtat (Relating to an exemption from private security regulation for social workers engaged in the practice of social work.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code to exempt a licensed social worker who is engaged in the practice of social work from regulation under the Private Security Act, Chapter 1702, Occupations Code.  If not receiving the vote necessary for immediate effect, the bill would take effect September 1, 2009.  This analysis assumes that the provisions of the bill would not pose a significant fiscal impact to the state.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
