LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 20, 2009

TO:
Honorable Edmund Kuempel, Chair, House Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3628 by Jones (Relating to the date by which the executive director of the Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation must comply with certain elevator safety standards.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would extend the delay to September 1, 2015 that the executive director of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) can grant for compliance with the requirements for door restrictors or firefighter's service in the ASME Code for elevator safety standards. TDLR would be required to adopt rules to implement the provisions of the bill.

TDLR anticipates any additional work resulting from the passage of the bill could be reasonably absorbed within current resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
