The bill would amend the Transportation Code relating to allowable disclosure and use of personal information obtained by an agency in connection with a motor vehicle record and would create as a misdemeanor offense if a person requests personal information from a person who obtained the information in compliance with statute and misrepresents the requestor's identity or make a false statement to the person in connection with the request. The punishment would be a fine not to exceed $25,000.
Based on analysis by the Department of Public Safety, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated.
