HB3748 by Coleman (Relating to continuing education requirements for law enforcement officers relating to interaction with persons with mental impairments.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code to add an education and training component related to peace officer interaction with persons with mental impairments as part of existing required training at least once every 48 months.  The bill would take effect September 1, 2009.


Local Government Impact

Local agencies that appoint or employ peace officers would incur additional costs associated with the additional training requirements included in the bill, but the fiscal impact is not anticipated to be significant.
