HB3770 by Fletcher (Relating to the continuing education and intermediate proficiency certificate requirements of peace officers.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code, Section 1701 to require the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) to provide certain training related to the laws of this state and the United States pertaining to peace officers.  The bill would also remove certain required training topics from periodic training requirements of peace officers.  The bill would also add certain required training topics to be completed in order for peace officers to obtain intermediate proficiency certificates.  The bill would also repeal Sections 1701.352 (e) and (f), Occupations Code, related to certain training for peace officers, reserve law enforcement officers, county jailers, and public security officers.  The bill would take effect September 1, 2009.  TCLEOSE anticipates no significant fiscal impact to their agency.
