LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 6, 2009

TO:
Honorable Lois W. Kolkhorst, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3926 by Orr (Relating to medical assistance reimbursement for immunizations administered by certain health care providers.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to provide reimbursement under the state Medicaid program to a licensed pharmacist who administers an immunization to a Medicaid enrollee to the same extent a physician or other health care provider is reimbursed. HHSC assumes that the bill would require systems changes, training, provider education and coordination, as well as revision to the Medicaid State Plan. HHSC assumes that any cost associated with these changes could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
