Honorable Todd Hunter, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence
FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB3996 by Hunter (Relating to requiring the state disbursement unit to disburse payments to obligees electronically.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Family Code and require the state disbursement unit to transmit child support collections electronically, either to an account set up by a child support obligee at a financial institution or via a debit card set up by the Title IV-D agency or the state disbursement unit. The Office of the Attorney General anticipates any legal work resulting from the passage of this bill could be reasonably absorbed with current resources.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
