Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION
Revision 1

May 4, 2009

TO:
Honorable Rob Eissler, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB4111 by Martinez Fischer (relating to public notice requirements and other provisions applicable to the board of trustees of a school district proposing to close a district campus.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would impose certain policies and procedures on the boards of trustees of school districts proposing to close a campus.

Local Government Impact

In an affected school district, a board of trustees in proposing closure of a campus would be required to comply with certain policies and procedures prior to closure, including the mailing of notices in both English and Spanish to parents of certain affected students, requirements for public meetings, and the collection of public comments.  Administrative expenses would be incurred, but are not likely to be significant on a statewide basis.
