April 16, 2009

TO:
Honorable Rob Eissler, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB4111 by Martinez Fischer (Relating to public notice requirements and other provisions applicable to the board of trustees of a school district proposing to close a district campus.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would impose certain policies and procedures on the boards of trustees of school districts proposing to close a campus.

Local Government Impact

School districts in which the board of trustees is proposing closure of a campus would be required to comply with certain policies and procedures prior to closure, including the mailing of notices to parents of affected students, requirements for public meetings, and the collection of public comments.  Some administrative expenses could be incurred, but are not likely to be significant.
