IN RE:
HB4240 by Mallory Caraway (Relating to the authority of the governing body of a local authority to impose a civil penalty for certain violations recorded by a photographic traffic signal enforcement system.), As Introduced
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Section 707 of the Transportation Code to prevent local authorities from imposing a civil penalty for a violation recorded by a photographic traffic signal enforcement system if a vehicle was turning right or left at an intersection and failed to stop at a stop line or before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated if the local authority is already not imposing a penalty. No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated if a penalty is being imposed and the local authority has to cease impositions.
