| TO: | Honorable Todd Hunter, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence |

| IN RE: | HB4288 by Hunter (Relating to health care coverage for children in Title IV-D cases.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend the Family Code related to health care coverage for children within the child support program (Title IV-D) and require the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) to develop and implement a statewide program to address the health care needs of children in Title IV-D cases for whom health insurance is not available to either parent at reasonable cost. In addition, the bill would authorize the OAG to maximize private funding and to contract with a third-party administrator if federal funding is available. It is assumed that any additional costs associated with implementation of the bill could be absorbed within existing state resources.
