LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 13, 2009

TO:
Honorable Joseph Pickett, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB4340 by Parker (Relating to the use of certain money in the state highway fund received from a project or system and held in a subaccount for the benefit of the region in which the project or system is located.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to enter into an agreement or agreements with local governmental entities for the distribution of money held in toll project subaccounts to the local entities within an applicable region that are authorized to construct, maintain, or operate projects that are eligible for funding with that money.

Based on the analysis of  TxDOT, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
