LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 13, 2009

TO:
Honorable Troy Fraser, Chair, Senate Committee on Business & Commerce

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB4343 by Smithee (Relating to access to certain criminal history record information maintained by the Department of Public Safety.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to add the Texas Department of Insurance to the list of noncriminal justice agencies to which the Department of Public Safety may disclose certain criminal history record information. If not receiving the vote required for immediate effect, the bill would take effect September 1, 2009. This analysis assumes that implementing the provisions of the bill would not pose a significant fiscal or operational impact to the state.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
