LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 13, 2009

TO:
Honorable Jim McReynolds, Chair, House Committee on Corrections

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB4357 by Madden (Relating to the authority of a justice or municipal court over certain juvenile offenders and their parents.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to allow a justice or municipal court to require that a juvenile complete certain specialized programs if that juvenile is found to have violated a penal law after having previously engaged in conduct that violates either the Penal Code or the Alcoholic Beverage Code.  The bill would take effect September 1, 2009.  This analysis assumes that implementing the provisions of the bill would not pose a significant fiscal impact to the state.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
