LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 19, 2009

TO:
Honorable Florence Shapiro, Chair, Senate Committee on Education

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB4407 by Taylor (Relating to rules concerning administration and maintenance of anaphylaxis medicine on public school campuses.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

This bill would require the Commissioner of Education to adopt rules relating to procedures, standing orders, and the supply of anaphylaxis medicine to be maintained at a school campus with a school nurse.  The Texas Education Agency estimates that this cost would be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

Costs for school districts to implement the bill’s requirements concerning procedures, standing orders, and maintenance of a supply of anaphylaxis medicine at each campus with a school nurse could vary but are not expected to be significant on a statewide basis.
