April 3, 2009

TO:
Honorable Veronica Gonzales, Chair, House Committee on Border & Intergovernmental Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB4530 by Chavez (Relating to the regulation of the location in which fireworks may be sold in certain counties located along the Texas-Mexico border.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would apply to a county with a population of more than 750,000 located along the Texas-Mexico border and meeting other criteria.

Local Government Impact

By state statute (Section 311.005 and Section 312.011, Government Code), populations referenced in legislation apply to the most recent federal decennial census. Based on the 2000 U.S. Census, the bill would not currently apply to any Texas county along the Texas-Mexico border.
