LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 14, 2009

TO:
Honorable Edmund Kuempel, Chair, House Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB4533 by Chavez (Relating to the conduct of charitable poker runs by certain nonprofit organizations; providing penalties.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code to authorize a qualified nonprofit organization to conduct a charitable poker run in the manner specified by the bill. The bill would specify that all proceeds from a charitable poker run must be used for the charitable purposes of the organization and would provide for the use of a portion of the proceeds to provide prizes.

Based on the analysis of the Texas Lottery Commission, it is assumed the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to the state.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
