IN RE:
HB4542 by Raymond (Relating to the exercise of urban renewal powers by certain counties.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Local Government Code to change the applicability of which counties may exercise urban renewal powers in areas of the county that are not within the corporate boundaries of a municipality, unless the municipality approves the county's participation in a project through an interlocal agreement under Chapter 791 of the Government Code. Under current statute, the powers apply to a county with a population of more than 1.3 million. Under the provisions of the bill, those powers would apply to a county with a population of more than 60,000 and less than 300,000 and located along an international border or county with a population of more than 1.3 million.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
