The resolution proposes a constitutional amendment to Article VIII of the Texas Constitution to authorize the Legislature to limit the maximum appraised value of all real property for ad valorem tax purposes to 110 percent or more of the appraised value of the property for the preceding tax year. The Texas Constitution currently authorizes this limitation only to residence homesteads.
The proposed amendment would be submitted to voters at an election to be held November 3, 2009.
