No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated, other than the cost of publication.

The cost to the state for publication of the resolution is $90,882.

The resolution would propose a constitutional amendment amending Section 47 of Article III to authorize the Legislature, by general law, to authorize and regulate games of chance and other gaming activities when such gaming activity is approved by local option election.  The legislature could provide for an allocation of revenues received by the state and local governments from such gaming activity on the basis of general law.

The resolution would authorize the conduct of gaming by certain Indian tribes.

Any fiscal implications would depend on enabling legislation and local option elections.

The proposed amendment would be submitted to voters at an election to be held November 3, 2009.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
