March 13, 2009

TO:
Honorable Judith Zaffirini, Chair, Senate Committee on Higher Education

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB174 by Shapiro (Relating to online performance reports for public institutions of higher education.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill requires all institutions of higher education to provide an online performance report card, ensure the performance report card be posted on each institution’s website, and submit it to the Higher Education Coordinating Board.  The Higher Education Coordinating Board must also maintain a database of both in-state and out-of-state peer institutions for purposes of comparison. Provisions of the bill would be implemented within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
