FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 12, 2009

TO:
Honorable Florence Shapiro, Chair, Senate Committee on Education

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB199 by Shapleigh (Relating to providing training in personal financial literacy instruction for public school teachers.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

The bill would require regional education service centers to provide training and assistance pertaining to instruction in personal financial literacy as a core service available to school districts and campuses for purchase.  The Texas Education Agency indicates that costs to develop and provide the required training and assistance would be expected to vary among service centers and that costs would be offset by charges passed on to participating school districts.
