LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 30, 2009

TO:
Honorable Rob Eissler, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB300 by Patrick, Dan (Relating to eliminating or modifying certain mandates on school districts.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would direct the Texas Education Agency to submit a report to the legislature by January 1, 2011, concerning the number and status of applications for class size waivers by school district.  The Agency estimates the requirement could be met using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

School districts could realize some savings of operating expenses under the provisions of the bill.  The amount of savings would vary based upon local circumstances.
