TO: | Honorable John Carona, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security |
FROM: | John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | SB371 by Carona (Relating to certain civil consequences of engaging in organized crime.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure by adding items used or intended to be used in the commission of organized crime offenses to the definition of what constitutes "contraband" and could therefore be subject to forfeiture.
Any possible revenue gain resulting from the forfeiture of contraband forfeited from the commission of an organized crime offense would depend on what was confiscated and its value. While the gain is indeterminate, it is not anticipated to have significant fiscal implications.
