The bill amends the Code of Criminal Procedure relating to the interception of wire, oral, or electronic communications. The bill gives new instruction orders to judges in regards to interception orders. To the extent the bill would amend court procedures; the interpretation changes are not anticipated to increase the workload of the courts. The bill would also require additional reporting requirements for the Department of Public Safety; no significant fiscal impact is anticipated from the reporting requirements. The bill would take effect September 1, 2009.
