No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Transportation Code, Section 601.262 to require evidence of financial responsibility to cover the one-year period immediately following the date the defendant of an impound motor vehicle applies for the release of that vehicle. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2009.

The Department of Public Safety anticipates no significant fiscal impact to the agency.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
