FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
SB451 by Van de Putte (Relating to staff development requirements in public schools.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require school districts to offer research-based staff development relating to the instruction of students with disabilities. The training would be required for educators working primarily outside special education only upon the recommendation of an Admission, Review, and Dismissal committee.
Local Government Impact
To the extent that school districts to not currently offer staff development programs meeting the requirements of the bill, local costs could be incurred.
