LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

February 24, 2009

TO:
Honorable John Carona, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB480 by Carona (Relating to the authority of the Texas Transportation Commission to enter into a covenant for environmental remediation of real property owned by the Texas Department of Transportation.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize the Texas Transportation Commission to enter into a restrictive environmental covenant for environmental remediation of real property owned by Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) if the remediation plan or work performed is approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) or a federal agency with the authority to approve the plan or work.

Based on the analysis of TxDOT and TCEQ, it is assumed the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to the state.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
