The bill would amend the Transportation Code to authorize the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to establish a driver record monitoring pilot program not to exceed one year in length. The bill would establish process, procedures, penalties and reporting requirements for the pilot program.
The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds majority vote in both houses; otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2009.
DPS anticipates no significant fiscal impact to their agency.
