FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

February 28, 2009

TO:
Honorable Jeff Wentworth, Chair, Senate Committee on Jurisprudence

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB519 by Harris (Relating to the termination of the parent-child relationship and the duty to pay child support in circumstances involving mistaken paternity.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Family Code relating to termination of a parent-child relationship and provide that accrued child support obligations are still enforceable by the Office of the Attorney General. It is assumed that any additional costs associated with implementation of the bill could be absorbed within existing state resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
