LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 1, 2009

TO:
Honorable John Carona, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB521 by Averitt (Relating to the Texas Department of Transportation's memorial sign program.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to allow one or more names to be included on a sign designed and posted under the Texas Transportation Commission's memorial sign program as long as the total length of the names does not exceed 21 characters.

Based on the analysis of the Texas Department of Transportation, it is assumed that any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agency's current resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
