LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 30, 2009

TO:
Honorable Edmund Kuempel, Chair, House Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB543 by Carona (Relating to certain possessory liens; providing a criminal penalty. ), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Property Code to prescribe certain notice requirements for a holder of a worker's possessory lien on certain motor vehicles, motorboats, vessels, or outboard motors.

Based on the analysis of the Texas Department of Transportation and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, it is assumed that any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agencies' existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
