SB687 by Hegar (Relating to injury leave and related benefits for certain state peace officers injured in the course of performance of duty.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Government Code, Section 661.918(b) which adds the offense of intoxication assault as an offense for which a peace officer is entitled to receive injury leave, without deduction in salary and without being required to use compensatory time or other type of leave. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2009.

The Department of Public Safety, the Alcoholic Beverage Commission, and the Parks and Wildlife Department anticipate no significant fiscal impact to the agencies from implementing the provisions of the bill.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
