No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Property Code to require a hospital or emergency medical services provider seeking to secure a lien on a cause of action or claim of an individual who receives hospital services for injuries caused by an accident that is attributed to the negligence of another person, to send a written notice of the lien, certified and return receipt requested, to the injured individual. The notice must be sent not later than the 10th day before the date a hospital or emergency services provider files a notice with the county clerk. The bill specifies what information is required to be included in the written notice.
