FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 16, 2009

TO:
Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB788 by Nelson (Relating to reporting child abuse or neglect.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require persons having cause to believe that a child's physical or mental health or welfare may be adversely affected by abuse or neglect to immediately report their belief to the appropriate agency. The Department of Family and Protective Services indicates that passage of the bill should not have a significant impact on the operations of the agency.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
