No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Family Code relating to protective orders against dating violence. The bill would expand the definitions of dating violence and family violence in the context of protective orders. To the extent the bill would amend court definitions, the change is not anticipated to increase the workload of the courts. The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds vote by both houses. Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2009.
