Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services
FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
SB1050 by Uresti (Relating to the release of certain information relating to child fatalities resulting from abuse or neglect.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require the Department of Family and Protective Services to disclose information about child fatalities resulting from abuse or neglect. It would also require the agency to redact certain information before releasing a document. The agency reports that it would have to seek an attorney general opinion to withhold any information that is believed to be confidential by other law. The agency also indicates that any cost to implement the provisions of the bill would be minimal and can be absorbed within available resources.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
