No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure relating to the standards for attorneys representing indigent defendants in capital cases.  To the extent the bill would amend and add qualifications for trial and appellate attorneys representing indigents in capital cases, the fiscal implication to the State is not anticipated to be significant.  The bill would take effect September 1, 2009.

Local Government Impact

To the extent a local selection committee must amend standards previously adopted by the committee with regard to attorney qualifications, no significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
