April 20, 2009

TO:

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1326 by Nelson (Relating to the functions of the Statewide Health Coordinating Council; providing civil penalties.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapters 104 and 105, Health and Safety Code, by updating agency references, adding clarifying language, and repealing a section related to a repealed federal law. The bill would provide for civil penalties related to requirements for submission of data by hospitals to the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) as required by Chapter 311, Health and Safety Code. DSHS indicates that any costs to implement the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
