SB1406 by Shapleigh (Relating to the consideration of the effects of climate variability on water supplies in regional and state water plans.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Water Code to require the State Water Plan and the Regional Water Plans to consider the effects of climate variability.  The bill would apply to the State Water Plan which must be completed by 2012 and to Regional Water Plans which must be completed by 2016.

TWDB indicates that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2009.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
