LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 20, 2009

TO:
Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1476 by Ellis (Relating to the authority of a community health center to contract with or employ an optometrist or therapeutic optometrist.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code to require the Texas Optometry Board, by rule, to certify a health organization to contract with or employ an optometrist or therapeutic optometrist if the organization applies to the board for certification and provides proof to the board that the organization is a community health center as defined by the bill.

Based on the analysis of the Texas Optometry Board, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
