IN RE:
SB1524 by Shapleigh (Relating to a report regarding research funds received by public institutions of higher education or employees of those institutions from pharmaceutical companies.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Under the provisions of the bill, institutions of higher education would be required to report biennially to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board the amount of money received by the institution or by individual faculty or staff members of the institution from phramacuetical companies in the two preceeding state fiscal years in connection with research or related activities developed or conducted at the institution or at a research facility operated or administered by the institution.

It is assumed institutions of higher education and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board would be able to absorb any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill within existing resources.
