No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize the Texas Transportation Institute to contract with a High-Speed Rail Corporation in order to facilitate, analyze, and implement the development of high-speed rail. The bill would authorize the High-Speed Rail Corporation to solicit federal and state funding, as well as coordinate with federal planners and adjacent state for interconnectivity. The bill would require the High-Speed Rail to submit an annual report.

The Texas Transportation Institute would be able to absorb any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
