LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 3, 2009

TO:
Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1732 by West (Relating to safety requirements for public swimming pools and other artificial bodies of water.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require an owner, manager, operator, or other attendant in charge of a public swimming pool or other artificial body of water used for recreation to implement safety standards as stringent as those imposed under the federal Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act (15 U.S.C Section 8001 et seq.).

The Department of State Health Services estimates that all cost associated with implementing the rule changes can be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
