No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would establish a nine member advisory panel with three members each selected by the governor, lieutenant governor, and the speaker of the house. The panel would prepare an interim study of recreational boating safety in Texas, with the results reported to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Legislature and oversight offices by December 31, 2010. The bill would provide that one of the gubernatorial appointees would serve as the panel's presiding officer, with reimbursement of expenses for the panel being paid from the contingent expense fund of the senate and the house of representatives equally. The bill would take effect September 1, 2009.
