IN RE: | SB1799 by Zaffirini (Relating to the adoption of rules by the supreme court relating to the nonrenewal of the license of an attorney who defaults on a student loan administered by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend the Government Code relating to the adoption of rules by the supreme court relating to the nonrenewal of the license of an attorney who defaults on a student loan administered by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The bill authorizes the Supreme Court of Texas to adopt rules relating to the nonrenewal of the license of a lawyer who defaults on a student loan. To the extent the bill would allow the Court to adopt new rules, the rules change is not anticipated to significantly change the number of defaults on student loans administered by the Coordinating Board.
The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a two-thirds vote in both houses. If the bill does not receive the two-thirds votes, it would take effect September 1, 2009.
