LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 22, 2009

TO:
Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1932 by Carona (Relating to the licensing requirements of hospitals temporarily providing outpatient dialysis services to a person because of a disaster.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 251, Health and Safety Code, relating to licensing of end stage renal disease facilities. Hospitals that provide dialysis services to individuals receiving inpatient services are already exempt; the bill would expand the exemption to include those hospitals providing outpatient dialysis services to individuals who are temporarily relocated due to a disaster.

The Department of State Health Services indicates that any costs to implement the provisions of the bill, which would include promulgating rules, could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
