LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 18, 2009

TO:
Honorable Joseph Pickett, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1984 by Uresti (Relating to certification of a person in certain counties as eligible for disabled parking privileges.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to allow the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to accept a notarized statement from a licensed physician assistant acting as the agent of a licensed physician or person acting under the delegation and supervision of a licensed physician in conformance with Subchapter B, Chapter 157, Occupations Code, along with an initial application for the issuance of a disabled parking placard submitted by a person who resides in a county with a population of 125,000 or less.

Based on the analysis of TxDOT, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
